I’m one of those people who loves fresh starts. There’s excitement and freedom in starting over and refocusing yourself. For years, that meant resolutions and lofty goals. In 2025, I’m going to try differently.
Do I have goals? Yes. Are some of them lofty? Yeah. Am I holding myself to them as measures of success? No.
I had a couple of rules:
- No body-specific goals (we are not losing weight or longing for a certain size this year)
- No absolutes (these are not KPIs. We will not be judged for completion)
- Plan some fun.
This year, my goals are a wishlist and not an agenda. They are not KPIs to measure the success of my year. They are the “Wouldn’t it be nice to get some of these done this year?”
So, I’m playing Bingo.

I created this with the thought of “what would be fun to do” along with “what goals do I have?” It is very book and writing-heavy with a few “experiences” thrown in there for funsies. Walking the dog will happen regardless so it is my “Free” space. Many of these are already scheduled — continuing education classes have already been signed up for, my buddy read is on my nightstand, and I’m already thinking of veggies for this year’s garden.
As for goals, here’s what they were loosely based on:
- Reconnect with the visual arts
- Progress with my drafts
- Read the books on my shelf
- Go do! Go live!
- Be gentle with myself
Everything on my bingo card sounds like fun to me. Looking at it makes me excited.
What’s on your 2025 bingo card?
Happy New Year!
Rachel
