I’m 5 chapters into this edit (woohoo) and some of the bigger changes are on the horizon.
I’ve decided to change a big part of the motivation behind my antagonist. The main reason being that it just didn’t “feel” right. So I kind of stripped it back a bit to be a more traditional take on the creature that is featured. But, like I mentioned before, the backgrounds of most of my side characters need a little bit of a bump.
I’m thinking I will need to sit down and plan out where exactly those things come in. It’s hard enough keeping track of a motivation change (even though it’s not a big one). Luckily, I used scene cards to plot out and keep track of my storylines. I’ll need to go back and look through those to find the slow scenes or the ones where relevant information would come up.
I’m still super excited about the changes I’m making. I truly feel like the story is getting stronger with each pass. I have a loose plan to try and get 5 chapters done each month (a chapter a week) but that could change very quickly when edits get a bit chunkier.
Until then, I keep on writin’.
Happy Writing,
Rachel
